That’s how Paradigm Telesales Inc. came to be. And it’s why we decided to launch (inter)ACTION blog.
My own story begins back on a school field trip to Toronto – I distinctly remember sitting in what used to be called the O’Keefe Centre (now the Sony Centre - boy I am dating myself!); on the edge of my seat, awestruck by the spectacle of modern dance that was onstage in front of me.
Robert Desrosiers’ The Blue Snake.
It got me excited. It got me thinking. It got me feeling. And wondering. And imagining. And I haven’t looked back since.
I often think back to that moment, especially when I feel particularly challenged by what I am now doing – selling subscriptions and fundraising for the arts via the phone. As those of you who are responsible for marketing and fundraising for the arts can attest, I think about that moment A LOT!
I know that the fantastical creation I saw on stage so many years ago was made possible because of so many people – choreographer, dancers, set designers, costume designers, make-up artists, stage managers, lighting designers. But there was another side, that, at the time I was completely unaware of, at least consciously – the marketing/fundraising side.
Same question can be posed for opera, theatre, music, visual arts, you name it. The creators/performers need an audience. And that’s where we come in.
(inter)ACTION is our forum to talk about the arts we love, the work we do; how we do it now and how we can do it better tomorrow. It’s our platform to discuss the ever changing needs of our clients, their patrons, and the constantly evolving entity that is marketing and fundraising for the arts.
(inter)ACTION is our ideas exchange – our community of like-minded arts lovers who are also marketers and fundraisers for the arts – the very people who give every performance an audience, and by doing so, its sound.
Welcome.
